Chapel Brass came in to existence during 2001 (as the Central Ohio Youth Band) and gave its first public performance at a Festival of Thanksgiving in November of that year. Since that time, the band has performed at several locations in Ohio. They also perform annually at the Festival of Thanksgiving and the God & Country/Ohio Brass Arts Festival weekend. The band has also been privileged to perform at the Ashland Brass Band Festival.
The majority of the band's repertoire is drawn from the Salvation Army's band journals and includes marches, hymn tune settings and classical favorites. Many of the band's members are students who perform with their school and college ensembles in addition to their participation with Chapel Brass. Chapel Brass has welcomed guest clinicians including Brett Baker (trombone), Chris Jaudes (trumpet), and David Thornton (euphonium).
Chapel Brass is a ministry of the Salvation Army, the Chapel at Worthington Woods, and provides an opportunity for its members to perform quality music at a high standard in a Christian environment.
